RiverCon XV – 2026 Countdown
The Event!
WOW! Another show in the books!
Thank you to all who attended as our guest – for without you, it wouldn’t be a show.
A heart-felt thanks to the Red River Modelers! It is a pleasure to be President of the best group of modelers who rose above the challenges and put on another wonderful show.

If your entry didn’t earn an award, I hope you were inspired by other entries to challenge yourself to explore new techniques and “push the envelope” as we say in the Air Force.
For me, the most rewarding thing about contests is seeing the variety of models. Some were so unique and generated lively and interesting conversations with other modelers, which is always fun.
What I also enjoy, is the camaraderie among fellow modelers. It’s wonderful to reconnect with friends scattered across our region and share stories.
As I alluded to, a special thanks to our registration team:
Sid, Bo Jones, Jason & Maria Hall. Trish bagged & tagged all 84 contestants with their 518 entries in our system by the time registration closed at noon!
Tommy to oversee the Vendor Hall plus and making sure we had donuts for every vendor..
To the setup crew which was everyone: thanks for getting all the tables set and ready to go!
Kudos to Lee Evans, his wife Evie, for running the raffle throughout the day.
To our photographers who documented our show, thank you Frank Laudrus and Roger (Clif’s friend)! One of these days, our slideshow will be working again! Tech issues kept us from having a presentation during the awards ceremony.
To our Ken Sullivan, head judge, and judging teams: Thanks folks! You had the most difficult job selecting the best of the best to receive one of our coins as well as our trophies. I know you folks had a hard time as I had a hard time picking someone for the President’s Award. A lot a great talent and craftsmanship all around!
On that note, I encourage those of you who haven’t yet judged a contest to consider volunteering to do so. By understanding the judging process, you can appreciate even more the skill and experiences of other scale model artists. Knowing what goes into judging can also help you improve your techniques.
I hope everyone had fun, had a chance to view each other’s work, meet new friends, and picked up some neat raffle items, or had a chance to barter with the vendors.
Until we meet again…great job and great effort by everyone!
Cheers!
Cheers!
